He was the 3rd President of our Association and he retired from the Santa Ana Police Department with the rank of Captain of Detectives. This award was established in 1986. Per Article 10 of the Constitution and By-Laws, below highlights the requirements for the CHARLES W. WOLFORD award:
A member of the Association may be recognized with an award from the Association for outstanding efforts in promoting our science and/or Association. The award shall be in the form of a plaque and certificate purchased with Association funds by the Secretary or delegate. In addition, the recipient shall be granted a “Life Member” status within the organization and given all privileges as an Active Member .
Suggestions for candidates shall be made in writing, complete with a description of the outstanding effort(s) and submitted to an Executive Board member prior to the conclusion of the August meeting. The Executive Board shall evaluate the suggestions and determine if, and to whom, the award shall be presented. The presentation of the award shall be at the December meeting prior to the installation of the new officers.
DELL FREEMAN SCHOLARSHIP
To honor the memory of the late Dell Freeman, the 36th president of our Association, this scholarship was established in April 25, 2015. (Revised June 22, 2017). The guidelines goes thus:
Anyone interested in attending the annual conference, but unable to do so, due to funding, may apply for The Dell Freeman Memorial Scholarship Program. The scholarship program was designed to assist up to two members each year by paying the cost of the conference registration fee to attend the annual training Conference. Applications are currently being accepted.
Please submit your application to the SCAFO Secretary, Denell Payne [secretary@scafo.org], along with a letter from your supervisor on department letterhead, acknowledging that your department is financially unable to send you to the Conference.
