In the dynamic field of forensic science, my career stands as a testament to the dedication and expertise necessary to excel, particularly in the intricate art and science of fingerprint analysis. I began my forensic journey in 2005 as a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Technician with the Pomona Police Department. By 2007, I had also started working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, juggling roles at both agencies for a year. This challenging period not only honed my skills but also deepened my understanding of the forensic needs and challenges across different jurisdictions.
Since then, I have fully transitioned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, where I serve as an AFIS Tech II/Fingerprint Examiner. In this role, I specialize in operating the Multimodal Biometric Identification System (MBIS), a pivotal tool in crime solving.
Beyond my technical roles, I am passionately involved in the forensic community as an active member of the California State Division of the International Association of Identification. I am also a lifetime member of SCAFO. From 2011 to 2018, I served on the executive board. My time on the board involved shaping the strategic direction and expanding the outreach of the association, significantly enhancing its impact within the forensic discipline. Which is why I accepted the roll as 2024 President of SCAFO.
In the past 19 years of my career I learned and firmly believe in giving back to the community, not only in my personal life, also in my professional life. Serving on this board of such a distinguished organization is both an honor and a privilege, and it reflects my commitment to advancing the practice and application of fingerprints in the field forensic science.
My journey reflects a relentless pursuit of continuous knowledge, and an unwavering dedication to making meaningful contributions to our field. It is a narrative of how dedicated professionals like myself drive the forensic science community forward, shaping the future of public safety and justice.
